Kenya Irish society

Céad Míle Fáilte

The Society hosts regular social and cultural events that celebrate Irish heritage and foster connections across generations. These gatherings are not only opportunities to celebrate Irish culture, but also to build friendships, support charitable initiatives, and strengthen ties between the Irish and Kenyan communities.

Join us this spring for our St Patrick’s Day Ball!

The Kenya Irish Society also supports charitable initiatives across Kenya and works closely with the Irish Embassy. More than a century after its founding, the Society continues to do what it has always done best: bringing people together, fostering connection, and keeping Irish community life alive in Nairobi.

St patricks Day

St. Patrick’s Day, celebrated each March, is Ireland’s national day and a global celebration of Irish identity, culture, and community. It commemorates St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, whose life and legacy are closely associated with the island’s early Christian history. Over time, the day has grown beyond its religious origins to become a vibrant expression of Irish heritage, marked by music, storytelling, dance, and the wearing of green.

For the Irish diaspora and friends of Ireland around the world, St. Patrick’s Day is an opportunity to honour shared roots, strengthen community ties, and celebrate the values of hospitality, resilience, and connection that are central to Irish culture. For the Kenya Irish Society, it is a special moment each year to bring people together in friendship, to celebrate Irish culture in Kenya, and to share that spirit with the wider community.

In addition to our flagship annual event, the St Patrick’s Ball, the Kenya Irish Society hosts a range of social and cultural activities throughout the year. These include pub quizzes, movie nights, and informal social gatherings, providing relaxed opportunities for members to meet, reconnect, and enjoy Irish company in Kenya.

We also work closely with the Irish Embassy to support special events and cultural initiatives.

Through a varied calendar of events each year, the Society aims to bring people together to connect, build friendships, and celebrate Irish culture, heritage, and community in an inclusive and welcoming way.
